Butterfly Kisses

Well, I have about 14 months of catching up to do, but I'll start with tonight.  :)  I am starting this blog entry at 5:45pm on a Friday night.  I just put Kyle down for the night, and he was asleep in less than 30 seconds.  I am a blessed mommy to have such a good sleeper!  I will delve into sleep on a later blog though.

Kyle has decided that the rocking chair is reserved for mommy and Kyle only!  He doesn't want daddy to rock him, or grandma...just mommy!  (Kinda sweet, really, but also hard when I can't be there.)  About a week or so ago Kyle and I started doing butterfly kisses at night.  Boy did that melt my heart!  So sweet!

Here's how the routine works... either Josh or I read him a couple stories while he holds his little "blankie bear" and drinks milk.  When he's done with the stories, the lights go off, and I rock Kyle while he finishes his milk.  When the milk is all gone, Kyle rocks with me with his head on my chest (just like a newborn), with his body laying all the way down mine and his feet just hanging off the edge of the chair.  My sweet, big baby!  He knows how to do butterfly kisses, so he'll move his head so his eye is close to mine and holds real still so I can bat my lashes on his.  Kyle giggles, then I giggle, and then we just start giggling back and forth just for the fun of it!  Every once in a while Kyle will fall asleep rocking with me, his head on my chest/shoulder.  But most of the time after rocking for maybe 5 to 10 minutes, he will point to his crib, letting me know he's ready to go to bed.  I give him big hugs, kisses on the cheek, and lay him down.  He goes right to sleep, all on his own.  No crying, no screaming, no fussing.

I cherish these sweet moments with my little angel of a boy.  He is 14 months old, and probably weighs at least 26 lbs. by now...but he will always be my baby, no matter how big he gets!  It doesn't get any better than butterfly kisses!!!
